Figure Skating: Patrick Chan

When I started the blog, I called myself an obsessed figure skating fan. I would be remiss if I didn't post this video here.

Last weekend was the Canadian National Championships. This week is the U.S. Nationals and the European Championships. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite times of the year.

I've been a fan of quite a few Canadian male skaters. I became a figure skating fan because of Kurt Browning. I enjoyed watching both Elvis Stojko and Jeffrey Buttle. The first time I saw Patrick Chan, at the World Championships in 2009, I saw a lot of potential with him. I think he really has reached a new level with this free skate from the 2011 Canadian nationals.

I would honestly rank it as one of the top five skating programs I've ever watched. It's just sublime. Enjoy!

Awesome, Michelle! This is so beautiful and relaxing and so much more. Makes me want to write a book about figure skating:) Thanks for sharing such a delight. Have a wonderful weekend!

Michelle, thanks for posting that!!! Because I actually fell asleep while watching this -- woke up at the thunderous applause! LOL. I'm so embarrassed.

I ADORE figure skating and love Patrick Chan. I've been to Canadian Nationals twice and the first time I went I saw Patrick competing in the junior level. I picked him out as somebody to watch out for and whohoooo, I was right!

Thanks for giving me a figure skating fix today. Hoping that we'll get some American coverage later.

Laura, I'm so glad you enjoyed watching it. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched it this week.

I suspect I'll be putting other skating videos up in the near future.

Have a great weekend!

Kav, I so understand about the falling asleep. I did that when watching the Olympic gymnastics from Beijing.

I bet you had a wonderful time when you were able to go to Canadians. I've not been able to go to a competition, only to shows. I really loved being able to see live skating, but now the shows don't come to Lexington.

If you live close enough to the border to get NBC, you should be able to watch some of our nationals this weekend. Dance and pairs are this afternoon from 3-6 and ladies is tonight from 9-11. Men will be tomorrow afternoon, coverage starts at 4. Videos will probably end up on youtube at some point too, I might end up posting some of them. I know I'll be posting at least one video from the European championships later.

Have a great weekend!

Sigh, I just had to watch it again. :-) Tiy gave to try to get to a competition, Michelle. The atmosphere is completely different from a show. There's a buzz in the air. I'd go every year if I could.

Thanks for the skating details. I managed to watch the ladies last night. Even stayed awake to see the the three top ladies battle it out. I'd been trying to figure out when today's coverage would be so thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely tune it at 4:00. Have to check out Patrick's competition at Worlds. :-)

Glad you were able to watch the ladies, Kav! I was definitely happy that Alissa Cziny won. I do like her skating a lot. I wish Mirai Nagasu would have done better though. She's another I like.

I hope you were able to watch the men this afternoon. If you want to see Patrick's competition though, I'd suggest the Japanese guys, lol. World's are in Tokyo this year, and I think they are the only ones who could touch him.

Richard Dornbush though, he might be able to touch Patrick in a few years. He was very good!
